DLSF Resumes Face to Face Forums

Founded in 2017 in Kenya, the Dear Little Sister Foundation (DLSF) aims to rescue girls from the menace of Teenage Pregnancies and resultant early marriages. The background behind the foundation was from firsthand experience of the negative effects of Teenage Pregnancies around the Communities living in Kericho County, Kenya.  From the year 2008, the founder MS. Daisy Kosgey was documenting the experiences and occurrences occasioned by teenage pregnancies within her Kalenjin community through her book (https://www.dearlittlesisters.org/the-book/) titled ‘Dear Little Sister’ which was officially published and launched in June 2018.  The book counsels’ girls against teenage pregnancies while emphasizing on education for girls. The foundation attained its formal registration under the laws of Kenya in July 2019 and has since extended its operations to other Counties in Kenya.

Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in Kenya in early 2020, the Foundation in adherence to the Ministry of Health regulations and guidelines, suspended its one-on-one forums of training and sensitization of girls and teenage mothers. This was aimed at reducing the spread of the Corona Virus. However, the Foundation continued to carry out its functions through media (social, print and broadcast) as well as through dissemination of the Dear Little Sister books to various institutions especially schools, churches and county governments.

After thorough assessments of the global situation of the COVID-19 and relaxation of several regulations around containment of the virus, the Leadership of the Foundation has decided to resume face to face training and sensitization forums effective October 11th 2022. The first such event is scheduled for 29th October at Greenland Girls School in Kajiado County. Other forums are lined up in November onwards.

The Foundation thanks all our stakeholders for the support accorded to us in our previous activities and we look forward to greater cooperation and support as we match forward toward achieving “Enlightened Girls, prospering in a Society free of Teenage Pregnancies and Forced Early Marriages”.

Thank you and best regards.
