Climate Action Alongside Girls Empowerment

//Climate Action Alongside Girls Empowerment

In Kamachungwa and Chepseon areas of Kericho County, The Foundation held a girls and community sensitization event focused on empowering girls and addressing climate change, bringing together participants for both learning and action. The session emphasized the importance of educating and supporting girls as key contributors to sustainable development.

Girls and women face negative effects of Climate change since a number of their traditional roles are badly hit by increasing aridity and deforestation. This has been found to increase the risk of Teenage Pregnancies and GBV as girls get exposed to dangers of enticement and attacks when they travel far for duties like water and firewood fetching.

As part of the sensitization initiative, participants also took part in a tree-planting exercise aimed at combating climate change and promoting environmental conservation. The event highlighted the strong link between education, community engagement, and environmental stewardship in building a more sustainable future.
