CHEPSEON LOCATION LEADERS TO PARTNER WITH DLSF IN ADDRESSING TEENAGE PREGNANCIES

//CHEPSEON LOCATION LEADERS TO PARTNER WITH DLSF IN ADDRESSING TEENAGE PREGNANCIES

On Friday 28th September 2018, our team led by the Founding Director Ms. Daisy Kosgey Mugiira held a consultative forum with the local administration of Chepseon Location in Kericho County.

The agenda of the meeting was to seek involvement of the local administration in addressing the issue of teenage pregnancies.

The forum brought together 58 persons who included, the area Chief Mr. John Koskei, his assistants, the Ward Administrator – Chepseon, the Personal Assistant to the Area Member of County Assembly (MCA), Village elders and all the Nyumba Kumi Initiative Leaders.

The idea was highly welcome by the local leadership and the leaders expressed their gratitude to the foundation and promised their full support to this great initiative. The leaders noted that time had come when the whole society has to face the reality and address the shortcomings brought by the high rates of teenage pregnancies and the increasing school dropout rates and the resultant poverty levels in the community.

The leaders agreed to work together with the Foundation in ensuring the levels of teenage pregnancies drop drastically by;

  1. Nyumba kumi leaders to ensure there are no new teenage pregnancies among girls in their cells.
  2. Village elders to report to Authorities any suspicious behaviors and persons likely to cause teenage pregnancies.
  3. The local Authorities to ensure men who impregnate teenagers(minors) have faced the full force of the law
  4. Teenage mothers be supported to re-enroll to school and/or be assisted to begin activities that will earn them a livelihood.
  5. The foundation to hold more sensitization forums among girls and boys/men in the community.

We invite well wishers to support this noble course by clicking here and be part of this great initiative.
